Well, it took 3 months before my blog got substantial amount of traffic, and the best way I've found was social media sites. Traffic was like instant!

Socializing with other bloggers is also an effective way to get mentioned in their blog.

Being hosted at wordpress.com, my blog started attracting pageviews in first three days (though 1-10 in nos.), then with inclusion in Google it started rising upto 587 in a single day.
